Who Says You Can't Teach an Old Dog New Tricks?

Whoever coined the phrase, "You can't teach an old dog new tricks," must have never met someone determined to keep learning, growing, and embracing new adventures! If July taught me anything, it's that life is far too exciting to stop discovering new talents, meeting new people, and stepping outside of our comfort zones.

This month was absolutely jam-packed with firsts, milestones, and wonderful surprises—the kind that remind us it's never too late to try something new.

For the very first time, I painted on fabric, transforming a simple piece of cloth into a beautiful butterfly design. It opened up a whole new world of creative possibilities and sparked ideas that I'm eager to explore.

Another unexpected blessing was stepping into a leadership role by helping facilitate a women's prayer group. Sharing faith, encouragement, and heartfelt conversations with such an amazing group of women has been both humbling and deeply rewarding. It's incredible how God stretches us in ways we never expect.

Family celebrations filled my heart as well. We were overjoyed to celebrate my granddaughter's very first baby shower. What a precious milestone! Watching our family grow and anticipating the arrival of a new little blessing is a joy beyond words.

Creativity was certainly in full swing this month! I challenged myself to sew women's purses and little girls' purses completely from scratch. There were plenty of learning moments along the way, but seeing each finished purse come to life made every stitch worthwhile. Sometimes the greatest satisfaction comes from creating something you've never attempted before.

As if that wasn't enough excitement, Crystalyn and I have been collaborating on an exciting brand-new product for Crystalyn's Creative Attic. Brainstorming, designing, experimenting, and bringing fresh ideas to life together reminds me just how much I treasure working alongside my incredibly talented daughter.

One of the biggest surprises of the month? My very first visit to a holistic dentist! Believe it or not...I actually enjoyed going to the dentist! Now there's something I never imagined I'd say. It was a refreshing experience that gave me a whole new perspective on dental care and overall wellness.

Perhaps one of the greatest blessings this month wasn't a project at all—it was people. July gave me countless opportunities to connect, collaborate, encourage, and simply enjoy spending time with others. After years of working more behind the scenes, it has been refreshing and energizing to build new friendships and strengthen existing ones. God has a wonderful way of placing exactly the right people in our lives at exactly the right time.

Looking back, I'm reminded that growth doesn't come with an expiration date. Every new experience teaches us something valuable, every challenge builds confidence, and every opportunity to serve others enriches our lives.

So...who says you can't teach an old dog new tricks?

I'm living proof that God is never finished teaching us, stretching us, and surprising us with new adventures.

Now I'm excited to see what August has waiting just around the corner. If July is any indication, I have a feeling the best is yet to come!

Until next month...

Keep creating, keep learning, keep trusting God, and never stop embracing new adventures!

Blessings,

Linda
