We even squeezed in a fundraiser event that took place on Sunday June 23 hosted by the Wyoming Valley Motorcycle Club. It was their 28th Annual SPCA Run that began and ended at the Polish American Vets.
It was wonderful to have been able to participate in an event whose proceeds provide much needed financial support to the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals of Luzerne County.
We met so many wonderful people at the fundraiser. We were especially touched by some of the customers' stories they related to us about what thoughts were brought to their minds when they saw “In God We Trust”, which was painted at the time of “9-11”. One woman who bought the framed print for a friend, said that he was a “rigger”, who was part of the teams who helped hold up the towers as long as they could to get as many people out to safety as possible.
Another customer told us he was buying “In God We Trust” to give him closure and to honor his uncle, a Port Authority officer, who died helping people to safety.
On a lighter note, I met a person who lived in my same childhood neighborhood in Flushing, Queens, New York! It was so much fun reminiscing about the old stomping grounds!
We are looking forward to the Flea Market & Vendor Fair hosted by the Plains American Legion located on 101 E Carey Street, Plains, PA. Be there on Friday, July 19, Saturday, July 20, and Sunday, July 21 from 9 AM - 5 PM. We are proud to help support our local veterans, who will benefit from this event.
Mark your calendars for NEPA's Day Out too! Held at Stephenson Street Park, 420 Main St in Duryea, PA on Saturday, July 27, 12 PM - 8 PM.
It's a fantastic way to spend a weekend and connect with these great communities.
